How we keep the dust down at Kincumber
How we keep the dust down at Kincumber
Here's what's in place.
Wet cutting. The stone is cut wet. Our machines are fitted with spray bars that put water onto the stone at the point of cutting, and water feeds to the blade whenever the diamond saw is running. That means the dust is minimised.
A mist cannon. We run an OZmist T45RU — an Australian-made unit that atomises water into a very fine mist and throws it across the working area. The droplets bind airborne particles and bring them back down. It runs during cutting and material handling, and it's positioned with the wind in mind. If you spot a white plume from the road, that is usually the cannon doing its job. The mist is a good deal more visible than the dust it's there to catch.
Watering the haul roads. The water truck works the internal roads through the day. Unsealed roads under heavy plant are one of the biggest dust sources on any quarry, and watering is stepped up when conditions are dry, hot or windy.

This is the first post on this page. It is where we will explain what happens on site, how it is managed, and how to get in touch with us.
Kincumber Quarry sits at 45 Kerns Road.
We cut sandstone — the same stone that sits under most of this part of the Central Coast — and it leaves here as blocks, logs, boulders and crushed material for landscaping, retaining walls and civil work across the region.
A few things worth stating plainly at the start. The site is operated by Rexdor Pty Limited, trading as Kincumber Quarry. We hold Environment Protection Licence 2807, issued by the NSW Environment Protection Authority, which sets conditions on dust, noise, water, hours and reporting. We work 7:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Saturday, and not on Sundays or public holidays. We do not blast — the stone is cut and split mechanically.
