Currently cutting the top bench
Currently cutting the top bench
We are currently at the stage of cutting the top bench. It is the highest and most exposed part of the quarry, so it is the work you are most likely to see and hear from the road and from surrounding properties.
We are wet cutting. Spray bars run on the machines while cutting, the water cart works the haul roads, and the dust cannon runs across the working area. The cannon throws a fine water mist. From a distance that mist drifts in the wind and is visible as a pale plume, which can look like dust — the mist itself is water.

Wheel wash upgrade
We upgraded our wheel wash to include a wheel bath for the trucks leaving the site pass through it before they reach Kerns Road. This significantly removes all mud and dust from trucks exiting the quarry.
